Bossa Nova Pop Piano Cover Lesson
This piano cover lesson is a follow up to my lesson and cover on Marry You by Bruno Mars, which you can find with videos and an article https://the-maestro-online.com/blog/bossa-nova-piano-cover-if-bruno-mars-was-born-in-brazil.
However, this time I am using a different Bossa Nova piano pattern.
The Piano Left-Righ Hand Combination
Still maintaining the dotted quarter note-eighth note pattern in the bass. The combination of the LH and RH supports the Son Clave pattern of 3+3+2 eighth notes in the first bar. The combination of the LH bass and RH chords in the riff bars that I use form a Bossa Nova with RH playing on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 7th and 8th eight notes in the first bar. In the second bar, the RH plays on the 3rd, 4th, 6th, 7th and 8th eighth notes (quavers). This creates a very syncopated pattern.
Latin Piano Patterns to Enhance Coordination
This is a superb coordination exercise for more advanced pianists. I also used a re-harmonisation of the original to allow for the Latin style.
