Choir Directing Tuning
Solfege is crucial to training choir rehearsals, helping everyone sing in tune. Continue with some solfege (Do-Re-Mi) practice videos from last week. As we build experience with this, it helps build our harmony skills. Tuning is everything! Want to learn more about tuning? Choir Directing & High Harmonies
Here’s a video to support you with Joss Stone’s Walk With Me, Verse 1. This song took me for ever to notate by ear. There isn’t a published printed version available at the point of rehearsing this, so this could be a unique performance!
Here’s a choir directors video to support you with LCGC’s Swing Low High Harmonies at the end:
Singing Low Harmonies
Swing Low Harmonies for the chorus as arranged by Bazil Meade for LCGC. Did you see London Community Gospel Choir on Britain’s Got Talent recently? Wow they sang well!
Low harmony for verse 1 of Joss Stone’s Walk With Me:
Choir Directing – Ain’t No Mountain
Here’s a great example of a Gospel arrangement of this wonderful song, perhaps most famous thanks to Marvin Gaye and Tammi. This is such a tough song that familiarity with the original is key to success. Listen to that vocal range!
