A Tutorial for Timber on the Piano
All pentatonic melodies can be played on the black notes of the piano alone and Timber is no exception. It mainly just uses the 3 black notes and with occasional Db to the right and Eb to the left.
Piano Tutorial Step 2: Add the Left Hand Bass
We only need 4 notes for the bass piano part. Start with Eb, move up to Gb, descend to Db and finally a Cb (also known as B). Just follow the piano tutorial video – it’s easy to fit in a coffee break!

There’s much more to The Kodaly Method than just singing solfege, but let’s get that going first! Pentatonic scales are easy to pitch and learn. They quickly develop your use of the “do-re-mi” words and the Curwen / Kodaly Solfege handsigns! A developed musical ear improves the connection between what you hear in your mind and what you play at your fingertips. You will quickly become a more accomplished piano player and piano improviser.
